Residents have once again been bombarded with misleading information on the choices relating to Heathrow. The latest with the headline “Heathrow`s Future on a Knife-Edge” is typical of the nonsense they produce.
The clear inference is that if Heathrow is denied a third runway it will have to close.
it is improbable that Heathrow would close
While it is true that closure could be one possible outcome of committing to a new dominant hub in the Thames Estuary it is improbable that Heathrow would close, as there are other more probable options. And the Thames Estuary Hub has already been rejected by the Airport Commission set up make recommendations to the government.

Gatwick could well serve as a competitive hub to Heathrow – Gatwick was sold to serve as appropriate competition to Heathrow. The competitive hub model works perfectly well in New York, which is served by both Kennedy Airport and Newark Airport with airline alliances continuing to operate from these competitive Hubs. Also, better use could also be made of Stansted.

More promises to break
Reference is made to the “ten commitments” by Heathrow in their recent leaflet, but by the time it becomes apparent that they cannot meet them it will be too late, if we back Heathrow’s flawed bid.
Can we really trust Heathrow?
Can we really trust a company (Heathrow) that was authorised by the Government more than five years ago to spread the taking off and landing disturbance evenly, but which has made no progress whatsoever? We might be pretty naïve to do so!
