WWRA AGM approves Carol and Wisdom’s candidacies in 4 May 2023 local election

Your West Windsor Residents Association councillors, Wisdom and Carole Da Costa are once more standing for election but this time both will stand for elction in the Clewer & Dedworth West Ward in the local elections on Thursday 4 May 2023.

Cllrs. Wisdom and Carole Da Costa will be your WWRA Candidates in the May 2023 Local Elections.

The councillors have been working hard on our behalf over the past four years and helping those in need at the West Windsor Hub.

They serve on several Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead panels, including People, Corporate Parenting, Windsor Planning, the Royal Berkshire Pension Fund and Full Council.

The West Windsor Hub and cost of living support

The WWRA is pleased to support the work of Cllr Carole da Costa who heads up the volunteers of the West Windsor Hub, based at All Saints Church.

The Hub has developed from a COVID response charity to one that supports hundreds of families in West Windsor who are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

The Hub can provide shopping services for people who live in isolation, unable to leave home or who have no family to help. Call the Hub on 01753 342110 for help.

The Hub has also been providing a warm space for people struggling with heating bills in the cold winter months. There, they found a welcome smile, hot lunch and pudding plus the offer of a flask of hot drink or soup to take away.

Staff were also able to help with applications for the Government’s £145 Household Support Fund grant.

Fighting for Windsor’s share of RBWM’s £4m windfall

Wisdom and Carole have also been fighting for Windsor residents to benefit from an unexpected £4 million from the Government.

The pair spent weeks costing projects and services that would benefit local residents with council officers.

The proposals:

  • The No.16 bus re-routes along Foster Avenue and Wolf Lane: £150,000
  • Increasing the frequency of No.2 bus to Windsor and Slough: £75,000
  • Night bus for locals: £225,000
  • Resumption of welfare checks, audit and financial clawbacks on failing care contractors: £175,000
  • Windsor walkway scheme over three years: £600,000 to improve pavements on Ruddlesway, Gally Road, Smiths Lane, Wolf Lane, Dedworth Road, and Clewer Road. The installation of new crossing points at the Willows, Dedworth Medical Centre, Ruddlesway, and outside schools. Improved dropped kerbs.

Sadly, the Conservatives all voted against it and other Windsor Independents didn’t support the proposal or abstained.

Carole and Wisdom have now laid the ground work and, if re-elected, will endeavour to bring these proposals to life.
