New councillors take up posts at RBWM annual council meeting

Dedworth and Clewer West Councillors Wisdom and Carole Da Costa and their RBWM colleagues took up their posts at the RBWM at the Annual Council meeting this week.

At meeting Councillor Neil Knowles was elected Mayor of the Royal Borough for the municipal year 2023/24 at The Guildhall, Windsor, with Councillor Simon Bond elected Deputy Mayor.

Thanks go to outgoing Mayor, Christine Bateson, and Deputy Mayor, Gary Muir, for their service representing the borough.

A new leader and Cabinet for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has now been appointed with Councillor Simon Werner elected as the new Leader of the Council at last night’s meeting. Councillor Werner will have responsibility for Community Partnerships, Public Protection and Maidenhead.

The other Cabinet members, and their responsibilities, are

  • Councillor Lynne Jones – Deputy Leader of the Council, Finance
  • Councillor Geoff Hill – Highways and Traffic, Customer Service Centre and Employment
  • Councillor Amy Tisi – Children’s Services, Education and Windsor
  • Councillor Catherine del Campo – Adult Services and Health
  • Councillor Karen Davies – Climate Change, Biodiversity and Windsor Town Council
  • Councillor Richard Coe – Environmental Services
  • Councillor Adam Bermange – Planning, Legal and Asset Management
  • Councillor Joshua Reynolds – Communities and Leisure.

 The new Cabinet make-up follows the results of borough-wide elections, held on Thursday 4 May.

 A further five ‘champion’ roles have been identified, focusing on specific areas within the borough. They are: 

  • Councillor Helen Taylor – Social housing
  • Councillor David Buckley – Business
  • Councillor Helen Price – Corporate social responsibility
  • Councillor Chris Moriarty – Consultation
  • Councillor Jack Douglas – Volunteering 

Members take up the above roles with immediate effect.

The next Cabinet meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday 29 June.
