News from RBMW – fly-tipping crackdown

Crackdown on town centre fly-tipping

“Stop dumping rubbish in the town centre or risk a hefty fine” is the message as our campaign to crack down on fly-tipping starts in gthe Borough with the aim to educate businesses and residents on how to dispose of their waste responsibly.

As part of ensuring the borough is cleaner, greener and safer, we have reminded town centre businesses of their responsibility to manage their commercial waste, ahead of an increase in inspections from our enforcement team in the coming weeks.

The council is also reminding residents about how to deal with domestic waste and when and where this should be placed for collection. Failure to dispose of waste responsibly could result in missed collections, overflowing bins, and environmental issues that negatively affect everyone – with those fly-tipping risking a fine of £400, or up to £50,000 if prosecuted in court.

You can let RBWM know if you see fly-tipped rubbish, or someone fly-tipping, via the report it section of the website.

Have your say on Berkshire’s blueprint for nature recovery

RBWM is encouraging communities to have their say on proposals to protect biodiversity, reduce the impact of climate change and boost the benefits of nature in Berkshire’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy. You can visit our RBWM Together page to complete our survey and add pins to a Local Habitat Map for suggested nature recovery sites until Monday 24 March.

There are drop-in sessions in libraries across Berkshire for those requiring support to complete the survey, including a session at Maidenhead library from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday 6 March.

Cabinet to consider borough’s budget for 2025/26

Our budget for 2025/26 will be considered by the council’s decision-making Cabinet next week, ahead of being put to Full Council on 5 March 2025.

Aiming to rectify historical issues and invest to meet demands of the future, it reflects the decisions needed to balance the budget and follows confirmation from government this week that they have approved the council request for exceptional financial support of £103m – reflecting the level of support needed to balance the budget and put back money into the services that matter to residents.

You can see the details of both meetings on the website or visit YouTube channel to watch meetings live or play back.

Help shape the future of pharmacy services

RBWM wants to hear your experiences to inform the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment that outlines how local pharmacies serve our communities. A few minutes of your time is important to help understand how pharmacies are currently used across the borough, as well as identify gaps in the services that you need.

Have your say by visiting the RBWM Together page by Sunday 9 March. If you know someone who is not able to complete the survey online, please encourage them to take part by asking for help at their local library.
