“A Civilization is Measured by How It Treats Its Weakest Members”
Unatributed
When you entrust your elderly or vulnerable relatives to the care of the council, you would be distressed to see failings that cause your loved ones to suffer, sometimes suffering in silence for fear of the repercussions of rightly complaining or suffering because they can’t complain. Yet this is a situation that has been brought to our attention as councillors time and time and time again.
But here’s the rub. It’s not just our patients and their relatives who suffer. We do. You and I do as the Care Companies engaged are not delivering the care that we are paying them out of our Council Taxes.
So, not only are vulnerable people suffering but we, council tax payers, are not receiving value for money.
But all is not lost. Based on our casework and interactions with Council, WWRA Councillors consider that some vital quick fixes are possible for improving Adult Care Quality and Value For Money for us council taxpayers.
WWRA Proposals for improving Adult Care Quality and
After working with senior RBWM officers, to improve the quality of care and ensure value for money for us as council taxpayers, WWRA Councillors propose to;
- Increase audit and welfare spot checks to ensure and improve the quality of adult care received by Windsorians and to
- Ensure better value for money by clawing back costs from contractors who fail to deliver the appropriate level of service.
Put simply, better management of adult social care contracts to ensure vulnerable residents do not suffer unnecessarily, that residents receive value for money and allow RBWM to claw back costs where possible.
It’s not rocket science and, it’s what you would want, right?
