The Bandstand

Around 100 years ago a Bandstand was erected in Alexandra Gardens and somehow it “disappeared”.  the application for a return of a Victorian-style Bandstand was approved last week, with Helen Price, A WWRA Committee member, speaking on behalf of residents in support.   This will partly restore the Gardens to their former glory and importantly will provide a focal point for community event

Skyswing

Common sense prevailed and the application for a Sky Swing in Alexandra Gardens was refused.  Helen Price spoke on behalf of residents who had objected.   She asked the Panel if we really wanted to become known as Clacton on Thames.   Unanimously the Panel rejected the application and Cllr Bathurst even stated that he thought in retrospect the Ferris Wheel wasn’t the right thing in Alexandra Gardens.

However it now appears that the Borough is still keen for Windsor on Ice to return.  This is the company who illegally fly-posted across the Borough, particularly in Dedworth, making the place just looks plain tatty,, and then refused to remove them, a task completed by our excellent Streetcare team.

So another battle is in sight to prevent the Borough making the same mistake twice.
